Professional Memberships

As a freelance or commissioned photographer to capture imagery for national and international editorial news media services and national magazines, it is of benefit to be a member of professional institutions to acquire best practices and maintain high quality working practices and promote the industry and provide guidance and support for its membership.

Member of the Sports Journalists Association of Great Britain (SJA). The SJA was formed in 1948 in Fleet Street, London and have continually supported and developed the industry at major sporting events such as the London 2012 Olympics Games as well as supporting the organisers of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Rugby World Cup and various World Championships advising on accreditation and facilities offered to members. The institution holds the oldest SJA British Sports Awards evening each year first held in 1949.

Member of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) which represents the international sports media with over 9,500 members worldwide. AIPS was established in 1924 in Paris and its headquarters are based in the Olympic capital Lausanne, Switzerland. AIPS is recognised by the International Olympic Committee and the main Federations of each sport and country. The aim of AIPS is to enhance the cooperation between its member associations in defending sport and the professional interest of members, to strengthen the friendship, solidarity and common interests between sports journalists of all nations and to assure the best possible working conditions for members. AIPS is made up of 160 Member Associations across four continental sections. AIPS membership is recognised as the official Press Card across all borders.
